Senator Cynthia Villar and Governor Lilia Pineda together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources R3Director Lilian Garcia and Mayor Maylene Cayabyab of Lubao spearheaded the Lubao River Clean-up , mangrove planting and fingerling stocking yesterday. They were joined by FPres. now Speaker Gloria M. Arroyo and Commodore Ed Gongona of BFAR with volunteers.
Also present were the Mandamus Agencies compelled by the Supreme Court to clean Manila Bay.

BFAR also promoted MALINIS AT MASAGANANG KARAGATAN (MMK). National Search for Outstanding Coastal Community. BFAR evaluate the communities based on the four general criteria: absence of illegal fishing and observance of fishing closed season; establishment of a protected marine sanctuary; clean coastal waters without domestic and industrial wastes and effective mangrove protection and rehabilitation program.
