The sneak preview of the farm tourism logo today at the Department of Tourism Penthouse in Gil J Puyat Avenue, Makati City. The event is hosted by Secretary Wanda Teo and attended by representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Development of Trade and Industry, Land Bank and DBP, TIESA, Tourism Stakeholders, young farmers and owners of Farm Tourism Sites.
Republic Act 10816, also known as the Farm Tourism Development Act of 2016, principally authored by Senator Cynthia Villar, aims to give opportunities for farmers to augment their earnings, and at the same time, increase the players in the rural tourism industry. The purpose of agri-tourism is to alleviate the marginalised poor farmers. The law also pushes for rural development and poverty alleviation. Also present is Congresswoman Sharon Garin author of law in Congress, Mrs. Josephine Costales, Mr. Ramon Uy, ATI Director Luz Taposok and Former Secretary Mina Gabor among others.
