Senator Cynthia Villar was the keynote speaker at the Mindanao Climate Change Summit organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) with the theme, "Investing in Agriculture and Fisheries Adaptive Strategies to Minimize Effects of Climate Change and Global Warming" held in ACES School in Bukidnon on July 16, 2015.
"Climate change will increasingly diminish food security and widen the gap between the rich and the poor. It should be prevented and studied with the use of science and technology. We should come up with mitigating measures to protect the millions of people facing poverty and hunger especially the farmers and fishermen.
This will be brought about by changing patterns of rainfall, sea level, temperature of the atmosphere, new plant pests and diseases, greenhouse gasses and many more." We should help our people in the seas and in the farms to be prepared," she said.
