Senator Cynthia Villar, Senate Chair on Agriculture and Food issued the warning after conducting a probe in aid of legislation on Senate Resolution seeking to stop rampant meat and offal smuggling to protect consumers attain food safety and security and strengthen the local livestock industry. Frozen meat once thawed and from refrigerated containers and not cooked at once is no longer fit for human consumption since microbes multiply fast and carry airborne diseases. Imported frozen meat are for processors and not for markets without freezers.
